Why I LOVE the Capital One Venture X

The Capital One Venture X is a great card to start with or add to your travel reward credit card wallet. This card packs a real punch from the start with a generous welcome offer and 2x points on everything. It also has several other key benefits that make it a true keeper in my wallet. Honestly, I think it is one of the best travel cards you can get, especially if you are looking for simplicity! My favorite feature is that it earns me 2x points on EVERYTHING! This makes it an easy choice for all my purchases that don't fit into a 3x or greater category with one of my other cards (i.e. when I'm booking a flight, I'd use my Amex Platinum because it earns me 10x points on airfare in that category, but if I'm paying for things that don't fit into a bonus category, like my kids haircuts, I'll use the Venture X because I'll get 2x points where most other cards would only get 1x.)

Features of the Capital One Venture X

Bonus Categories: Earn 10X miles on hotels and car rentals booked through Capital One Travel, 5X miles on flights booked through Capital One Travel or directly with airlines, and 2X miles on all other purchases. Have I mentioned the 2x on everything else is my favorite feature!

I just used my credit this year to book hotels for 3 nights over Thanksgiving weekend for a mini trip we are taking to Atlantic City to try out the free cruise status match merry-go-round via the Wyndham Earners Business card! Access over 1,300 airport lounges worldwide with a complimentary Priority Pass Select membership. You can also bring up to two guests with you for free. Relax, recharge, and enjoy free snacks, drinks, Wi-Fi, and other amenities before your flight.

Transfer your miles to over 15 travel partners, including airlines and hotels, at a 1:1 or 2:1.5 ratio. You can also redeem your miles for statement credits, gift cards, cash back, or charitable donations, but I personally don't recommend this as points are much more valuable when transferred to partners.

A 10K point bonus every year starting on your first card anniversary! This is worth at least $100 if you just redeemed it for a statement credit, but you can do better with a transfer partner!

All of these benefits really offset the $395 annual fee (the $300 travel credit and the value of the 10K anniversary miles pay for the fee every year anyways). Plus, you'll always be earning at least 2x on every purchase and you'll get to enjoy a premium travel experience with access to airport lounges.
